Today we talked about relative motion. There is a new Mastering Physics assignment so you can practice this concept! Here are some videos to help you with relative motion if you were absent:
A Plus Physics: Relative Motion Twu Physics (videos 23-25) Today we reviewed vectors and practiced projectile motion problems.
Other things you should have completed and handed in (if not, get them in by Friday): Projectile Motion Online Lab Notes & Example Problems on Projectile Motion Quiz Corrections - you can earn back half the points you missed by doing quiz corrections. On a separate sheet of paper, rework the problem and make sure you show all of your work and give a quick explanation of what you did wrong on the original quiz. Quiz corrections are due Friday 10/26. NO LATE WORK ACCEPTED! Also, make sure you are working on the Mastering Physics Homework!! Today we discussed the results of the projectile motion lab, and began solving projectile motion problems. The solutions to the problems we worked together are here. Please finish the ranking task questions at the end of the packet. The online lab and packet are due on Monday. On Thursday and Friday you will have a sub.
Thursday is a workday to work on projectile motion problems. The sub will hand out a worksheet. The answers are at the end of the worksheet and fully worked solutions are here. The last 2 questions are fully worked out in the following videos: Problem 29 Problem 31 Helpful videos: A Plus Physics - projectile motion horizontal projectiles angled projectiles Twu physics - projectile motion- there are several videos on this page! Friday you will have a quiz on vectors. SOlutions to the vector addition warmup questions are here. Vector addition video (twu physics). Today we worked on an online projectile investigation. Please have the investigation completed by Wednesday so we can discuss the conclusions in class!
Today we learned how to add vectors using components. Make sure you practice this skill by doing the homework this weekend!
If you are struggling with the graphical vector problems on Mastering Physics, here are some hints on how to use it (I am still learning, too!). You cannot move the vectors that were given in the problem. You can add unlabeled vectors to the canvas. Use unlabeled vectors to do the addition/subtraction/scalar multiplication. Once you have the graphical addition set up with unlabeled vectors, you can add a labeled vector for the vector that you were trying to find. Today we talked about vectors in 2 dimensions. We learned how to decompose a vector into x and y components, and we learned to describe vectors using component form and polar form. We also started to add vectors graphically. You should begin working on the MasteringPhysics vector assignment!
Today we worked on test corrections for the 1D Kinematics Test. Test corrections are due next Wednesday 10/10, and should follow the guidelines handed out in class. Specifially,
- test corrections should be done on a separate sheet of paper - explain your mistake IN TERMS OF PHYSICS, and show the correct work and correct answer - staple your test corrections to the top of the original test. Solutions for the test are available here (MC answers - scroll down to find the correct version, and FRQ solutions.) Today we reviewed for the kinematics test. The solutions to the graph questions are available in google drive. You should use the template that you received in class to put together a summary/study guide of all important concepts. See yesterday's post for additional resources.
Many of us are still struggling with concepts and vocabulary and need a few more days to practice putting everything together. The test will be on Monday 10/1. Things that you can do to get ready for the test:

Reminders:
Chapter 2 test retake is Wednesday 10/17. You can take the retest either before school or after school, but you must complete all of the Chapter 2 homework (75% completion on each assignment) to be eligible for a retake!
