On Monday we spent the period doing test corrections for the Chapter 3 test. Your test correction should be done on a separate sheet of paper and attached to your original test. Your corrections MUST include the following:
1. Identify and explain, in detail, the mistakes you made when you solved the problem on the exam. This will require you to think about what you did, and explain why your method was incorrect. I do not want answers like "I didn't understand the question" or "I made a simple mistake". I want you to identify your mistakes and to explain why the work you did was incorrect. An acceptable explanation would be "I thought the derivative of tan(x) was -tan(x)cot(x), but now I know that the derivative of tan(x) is sec^2(x)".
2. Based on your explanation, determine if your error was simple, procedural, or conceptual.
3. Rework the problem and show ALL THE STEPS NEEDED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. Do not just copy the work of someone who got the problem right on the test. If you do not show all of the steps, you will not get credit (even if your friend got credit on the test without showing every single step).
Test corrections are due on Friday. If you need help on test corrections, make sure you get help BEFORE Friday. Don't come in Friday morning expecting to get help on all of your test corrections before class! It is very important that YOU understand how to do these problems, otherwise you will struggle for the rest of the year. Really. It's important.
