Today we talked about functions and their inverses. We practiced finding inverse functions. Homework is p. 39 #1-12, 14, 19, 21, 23, 24. My solutions are available here, or you can use the book solutions for section 1.5 (especially if you want to practice with additional problems!)
Today we reviewed exponential functions. Homework is p. 24 # 1-7, 10, 11, 13, 16, 18, 23-33 odd. Homework is due Monday since we have a quiz tomorrow. The solutions manual for section 1.3 is available here (you must be logged into your SVSD school google drive account for the link to work).
Quiz covers lines, slope, functions & graphs, domain and range, symmetry, piecewise functions, composite functions. Today we finished up section 1.2 looking at composite functions. Homework is p. 18 #51, 53, 55, 56, 63. Solutions can be found here.
Today we reviewed domain and range of functions, talked about symmetry, and looked at piecewise functions. Homework is p. 17 # 7,10, 15, 17, 20, 21, 25, 28, 31, 32, 41, 44, 46, 59, 60. Since this assignment is so long, it will not be collected until Thursday. However, you will get 5 more problems to do tomorrow, so plan accordingly. Solutions are available here to check your answers.
Today we talked about functions, domains and ranges. No homework tonight. Enjoy the long weekend!
Today we talked about how to determine if two lines were parallel or perpendicular to each other. Then we used our graphing calculators to find a linear regression model for data. This was very confusing because students were using different models of graphing calculators so the prompts did not always match. These instructions (thanks to Ms. Dexheimer) should work for either the TI-83 Plus or the TI-84 Plus SE models. Let me know if you are still having problems, or your calculator is doing something completely unexpected. Homework is p. 7&8 #31, 33, 39, 40, 43, 46, 47. Solutions are posted if you want to check your work.
The textbook solutions (typed) for all of Section 1.1 have been shared with your school google drive accounts. Today we had a brief introduction to calculus, and then dove straight into chapter 1. We reviewed lines and slope. Homework 1.1a is p. 7 #1,3,5,9-25odd, 26, 27, 29, 35, 37, 38. It seems like a lot, but they are very quick problems. This assignment is due tomorrow. You do not have to use graph paper, just sketch the line and label appropriate points. Once you are done with the assignment, you can check your answers here.
