You received a take home quiz for this chapter. The quiz is due AT THE START OF CLASS on Friday 1/13. Late work will only earn 50% credit because we will be grading the quiz together in class on Friday! This chapter will not have a stand-alone test, only the take home quiz. The material for this chapter will appear on the final exam, which begins on Thursday (see side bar for schedule).
Tuesday we talked about vertical circular motion, and how it is an example of non-uniform circular motion. Solutions to the examples we did in class are available here.

Monday we talked about circular orbits. We worked through several example problems in class. The solutions to the example problems are available in the google drive folder for the chapter (5).
Today we had a homework check on centripetal force (basic problems). Then we caught up on webassign problems. Your next homework check will be on Tuesday on banked turns.
Today we went through several complex examples of uniform circular motion problems (see the link from yesterday's post for the powerpoint - it is all one big file). Solutions to the examples we did in class are available here. Remember, you have a homework check on centripetal force tomorrow.
Today we learned that if there is a centripetal acceleration, there must be a net force acting towards the center of the circle (i.e., a centripetal force). We practiced identifying and calculating centripetal force with several examples. The solutions to today's examples are in the google drive folder for the chapter. Homework is a webassign dealing with centripetal force.
In case you were wanting to see an example of a well written lab. The following are two of the better written reports for the mass of key lab. Example 1 Example 2 Today we started Chapter 5 - Uniform Circular Motion. We learned about centripetal acceleration. Solutions to the example problems we did in class are in the google drive folder for this chapter. Homework is a webassign assignment. This chapter is going to move very quickly - please make sure you are doing the homework each night or you will fall behind and have difficulty catching back up.
