We are almost through the circuits material. We just need to finish up with Kirchoff's rules and equivalent resistance tomorrow. Please try the first and last problem in the packet I gave you today. You likely will not be able to do the middle problems as we haven't talked about equivalent resistance. We're almost to the finish line! Keep reviewing and practicing.

For those of you that took the AP Physics 1 Practice Exam this weekend, the multiple choice answers and the scoring guide for the free response questions are in the review folder on google drive. You may review your test in the classroom (the tests cannot leave my room, nor can you take pictures of your test - Sorry, Collegeboard rules!). Hopefully your test answers will give you an idea of the areas you should focus your review on.
The solutions to the review packet are also available in the review folder. (Note: Nick found a mistake on #8 in the rotational motion section and it has been updated in the linked doc) Let me know if you find anything you don't agree with - I did them quickly and might have made a mistake. The power is still out and the new estimated restoration time is 10:30 am. I am cancelling today's practice session. Tomorrow's session is still ON at 9:00am. I will post a status by 8:30am tomorrow if for some reason there is another problem tomorrow morning.
Power estimated to be out 'til 9:30. Check back to see if we are going to start at 10:00.
Two full length AP Physics 1 Practice exams will be offered this weekend. This is optional, but a good opportunity to test your knowledge and determine the areas you need to further review. You can come to one or both sessions.
Session #1: Saturday 9am - 12pm (or later if you want to grade your FRQs). Session #2: Sunday 9am - 12pm (or later if you want to grade your FRQs) If you want to stay to grade your FRQ's, I will order pizza. Meet at the gazebo door before 9am to be let in the school. If you arrive late, email me ([email protected]) so I can send someone to open the door. Today we defined current, voltage, and resistance in mathematical terms. Please begin working on the final webassign. Also, make sure you are working through the review packet (up to page 14 for Monday).
Today we continued our circuit investigation. We looked at current when bulbs are wired in series, current when bulbs are wired in parallel, and talked briefly about Kirchoff's junction rule (current going into a junction must equal the current leaving the junction). We will (hopefully) finish our investigation tomorrow and begin talking about the math/equations involved in circuits on Friday.
Friday we practiced using Coulomb's law to calculate the force that charged objects exert on each other. Homework is a practice worksheet. The solutions to the worksheet are available in google drive.
Monday you will be working on AP Free response problems. Answer each prompt as completely as you can, then use the scoring guide to score your answer (found in the google drive review folder). Make sure you are using the scoring guide for the year/problem you are working on. edX has a free online review course for AP Physics 1. You need to create an edX account and then register for the class "AP Physics 1 Challenging Concepts". This is a self-paced course, so you can work through the topics that you most need to review. There are videos, lectures, and questions/answers available. The link to the class is found here.
Today you began your take home test on waves and simple harmonic motion. The test is due MONDAY at the beginning of the period. You may use your notes and your book on this test, but you MAY NOT use any electronic resources. Do not google answers or you will get a 0 on the test! You may work together to explain concepts to each other, but work out each problem by yourself. DO NOT COPY other people's work. The point of this test is for you to learn!!

Reminders:
Chapter 2 test retake is Wednesday 10/17. You can take the retest either before school or after school, but you must complete all of the Chapter 2 homework (75% completion on each assignment) to be eligible for a retake!
