Today you finished the ballistic pendulum lab, which is due on Friday. THen you began working on a test review packet. We will go over the test review questions tomorrow, and your test is on Wednesday!
Today you gathered data for the ballistic pendulum lab. The lab will be due Friday after break (March 3), but you should try to complete it sooner as it will help you for the test on Tuesday February 28th.
Go to the MSHS Home Page. On the right hand side of the page, under Quick Links you will find a link to AP Exam Registration. Follow the directions from there... Last day to register without a late penalty is March 7th!
Today we had a group homework quiz that lasted longer than I expected so we did not begin our lab. You should read over the ballistic pendulum lab tonight and begin thinking about how to solve the problem. Think about what measurements you will need to make tomorrow to determine the speed of the marble so that you can gather all of your data tomorrow. The lab will be due the Friday after break.
Today we went over some more conservation of momentum problems, talked about elastic and inelastic collisions, and then looked at collisions in 2 dimensions. One more new webassign is available to practice these concepts. The unit test for momentum will be on Tuesday after break!
Today we talked about isolated systems and conservation of momentum. There is a new webassign to practice these concepts. You have a homework check tomorrow.
Today we began learning how to analyze collisions. To understand collisions, we need to first understand impulse and momentum. We learned how impulse changes momentum, and how to calculate impulse and momentum. You should work on the webassign problems to practice these concepts.
Your test corrections are due on Tuesday 2/14. The retest will be on Wednesday 2/15 either before or after school (your choice). If you want to take the retest, you MUST have all webassigns done for this chapter (at least 75% completed for EACH assignment!) and you must have your test corrections completed.
Solutions to the exam are available in the google drive folder or here: Multiple Choice Free Response Today was a shortened period due to the late start. We went over some review problems for the test tomorrow. The test covers all the topics in chapter 6 (work done by a constant force, kinetic energy, gravitational potential energy, elastic potential energy (springs), Hooke's law, the work energy theorem, conservation of mechanical energy, work done by a variable force. The test will consist of 20 multiple choice questions and 3 free response questions (one of which will be a paragraph length response).
Solutions for all of the homework checks can be found in the google drive folder for this chapter, or using the following links: work by a constant force KEY work and energy KEY work and energy concepts KEY |
Reminders:
Chapter 2 test retake is Wednesday 10/17. You can take the retest either before school or after school, but you must complete all of the Chapter 2 homework (75% completion on each assignment) to be eligible for a retake!
