Today we whiteboarded the worksheet problems and discussed the solutions. Homework is p. 128 #38-40, 43-46, 48. Tomorrow is a work day, so the problems are due on Monday.
Yesterday we debriefed the friction investigation and talked about how to calculate static and kinetic friction. Homework was a worksheet.

Today we finished the friction investigation. Make sure you have answered all questions in the lab packet. Your homework tonight is to analyze your lab and make 3 claims about frictional force, supporting each claim with evidence from your lab, and reasoning to explain how the evidence supports the claim. Due tomorrow.
Today we investigated friction using the computers and a force sensor. 3rd period did not quite finish the investigation, so we will finish it tomorrow, and then talk about what you saw in the lab. No homework tonight.
You have 2 review packets to help you study for the final. Each packet is worth 5 extra credit points towards your final, but it has the packet has to be completed entirely. You must show some work to get credit. The bonus points are an all or nothing opportunity. The packets are due on the day of the final. WORD OF ADVICE: if you complete the packets by Tuesday, you can check your answers in class to know if you did the problems correctly.
Correction to packet #2 (vectors & 2-d kinematics) Problems #8-11 refer to the following situation: " During a one-hour trip, a small boat travels 80.0 km north and then travels 60.0 km east." This information was deleted and does not appear in your packet. Today we talked about normal force, and then practiced drawing FBDs for objects on an inclined plane, and finding the normal force. Homework was a worksheet. The worksheet has the answers included. Full solutions are posted in the class notes/solutions file.
Today was a work day to finish up yesterday's assignment, any other missing work, and complete test corrections. Test corrections are due on Monday. Missing assignments are also due on Monday. Credit will not be given for late assignments after Monday.
Today we talked about gravitational force. Homework is p.. 128 #20,21, 24, 25, 27, 28,30, 33. We will have a work day tomorrow to catch up on all of our assignments. Solutions are posted in the google folder if you want to check answers.
Today we talked about Newton's 3rd Law and action/reaction pairs of forces. Homework is p. 127 #11-19
Today we discussed the results from our Newton's 2nd Law investigation (that we did before winter break), and then began solving problems using Newton's 2nd law. Homework is p. 126 #11-19. You should try to do the first 3 or 4 problems on your own tonight. We will work on the remaining problems in class tomorrow. All problems will be due on Thursday.
Today we did test corrections on Chapter 3 - projectile motion. Test corrections are due on Friday. To earn credit you must rework the entire problem, showing all of your work, on a separate sheet of paper. If it is a multiple choice question, you must also explain why your original answer was not correct ("I guessed wrong" will not be accepted. You must explain using physics concepts why the answer you chose was wrong.
For tomorrow, make sure you have your graphs from the force lab we did before break. These graphs will be collected and will be your lab grade for this lab. NOTE: The semester ends 1/22. All missing assignments must be turned in by 1/11 (next Monday). No credit will be given after 1/11 for missing assignments. |
