Today we reviewed for the test on momentum and impulse. The review packet is due on Wednesday, which is the day of the test. The momentum worksheet (#2/#3) is due tomorrow.
Today we talked about impulse and momentum, and the conservation of momentum. Homework is p.217 #2,4,5,8ab, 16,17,20,21.
Today we identified a new quantity called momentum and learned how to calculate it. Homework was a worksheet which almost everybody finished in class!
Yesterday's test was longer than I intended. Today you have more time to complete the test and to consult with your tablemates for problems that you had trouble with.
The test on work and energy is on Monday March 21st. It covers the following topics:
Work done by a constant force Kinetic Energy Potential Energy Conservative vs. Non-conservative forces Work-energy theorem Conservation of Mechanical Energy Non-conservative forces and the work-energy theorem Power The solutions to all homework assignments are posted in the google folder. They are the following: Review Assignment KEY Power Problems KEY p. 190 #62-58 Conservation of Mechanical Energy p. 190 #41-45odd, 51-57odd Conservative vs. Non-conservative forces p. 190 #29, 31-35 Work Review worksheet KEY work energy theorem p. 188 #13-23odd work by a constant force p. 188 #1-11 odd Please use this google form and let us know which science classes you are THINKING about taking next year. This does not obligate you to sign up for the same class, it is just a planning tool so we can see how many books we may need for next year.
We will be having an exam on work-energy on Thursday. Today you received a review packet to help you review for the exam. The review packet is due on Thursday. Any homework handed in after the test date will only receive 80% credit, so make sure you get caught up on your missing work before the test!
Tomorrow and Wednesday we are doing a challenge lab. Today we talked about power, how to calculate power, and what the heck a kilowatt-hour really is. Homework is p. 188 Concept question #25; p. 190 #62-68. Due Monday.
Today we investigated how much power you can output when you go up stairs. Lab writeup is due tomorrow!
