Yesterday we talked about Hooke's Law and Elastic Potential Energy. There is a webassign dealing with these topics. Today we will talk about Energy Diagrams and Elastic Collisions. There will be a webassign dealing with these topics (which also includes some review questions). Tomorrow is a work day.

Today we had a quiz on impulse and momentum. Your graphs for the spring lab are due on Monday!
Today we gathered data to quantify the relationship between the force on a spring and its stretch (displacement). You should have gathered 3 sets of data: a single spring, 2 springs in parallel (side by side), and 2 springs in series (one after another). You should have 3 graphs, each with a best fit line (use a ruler), slope calculation, and equation for the line. You may put your data tables on the same page as your graph. This is due on Monday.
Tomorrow is a quiz on impulse and momentum. Today we talked about kinetic energy, potential energy, and the conservation of mechanical energy. There is a new webassign to help you practice!
Today was a work day to catch up/ask questions about impulse and momentum. You will have a quiz on impulse and momentum on Friday.
Today we worked through several examples of different types of momentum problems. Solutions to the examples are available in the google drive folder (chapter 9). Tomorrow will be a work day to finish the momentum webassigns. Friday we will have a quiz on momentum.
Today we talked about conservation of momentum. If the system is isolated (no net external force acts on the system), then the momentum of the system is constant. The second webassign will help you to practice these problems.
Today we talked about impulse and momentum. There is a new webassign so that you can practice these concepts.
Monday we talked about circular orbits. Solutions to the example problems we did in class are available here (and in the google drive folder).
Tuesday we finished the chapter with a discussion about non-uniform circular motion. Solutions to example problems are available here. You were given a take home quiz for this chapter (there is no stand-alone test for this chapter - the material will be included on the final. The quiz is due AT THE START of class on Friday. We will be grading it in class on Friday, so if you do not have it completed, you will only be able to earn 50% credit!! |
REMINDERs:Chapter 2 test retake is Monday 10/15. You can take the retest either before school or after school, but you must complete all of the Chapter 2 homework (75% completion on each assignment) to be eligible for a retake!
