Enjoy your winter break! No AP Physics homework over break. Remember, you have an OPTIONAL EXTRA CREDIT assignment that will be due on January 15th. You may investigate any physics concept that interests you. Your project should include a written explanation of the physics concepts involved (including properly cited references). Some ideas: build a radio receiver and explain how it works, build a trebouchet and explain the principles that make it work, take pictures of physics in action and explain the concepts involved. Think of this like a student directed investigation - pick a topic that interests you and run with it. You may work in a group, however, the more of you that work together, the more thorough and detailed I am expecting your project to be!

Solutions to the last half of the problems in the review assignment have been posted in the chapter 7 folder. The test will look very much like the homework problems. You should probably review the "stop to think" questions from the chapter (answers are on page 209. Email if you have any questions.
Today was a work day to get the assignment done. You don't have to to each problem, but you should attempt to do some of each type of problem so that you are ready for the test on Thursday. Solutions have been posted in the ch7 folder.
Today we talked about massless pulleys, massless ropes, and ropes with mass. Homework is p. 205 #12-17, 20-21, 23, 30-33, 35-39. We will work on these for the next couple of days.
The solutions to Friday's problems (p.206 #18,19,27,29,46) are posted in the chapter 7 folder.
Today we did some more practice problems with interacting objects. Homework is p. 206-208 #18, 19, 27, 29, 46. We did 46 in class, had some trouble with it, but eventually finished. Try doing the problem on you own. Your answer should be only in terms of m1, m2, theta, and g.
Today we had a work period to practice solving Newton's law problems involving multiple objects. Homework is p. 205 #7-11. Solutions are posted in the chapter 7 folder.
Today we talked about Newton's third law, and learned how to analyze forces when multiple objects are interacting. Homework is to finish the example on slide #19/20.
study, study, study, until your brain hurts! The lab is due on Monday.
Today we did the coffee filter lab. You should have gathered all of your data with your group. Make sure you make your graphs tonight so we can talk about any issues with your data tomorrow. The lab is due Thursday.
The solutions to the review assignment are available in the google drive folder. This assignment will not be collected, but you should try some of the problems to make sure you are ready for the exam on Thursday. |
REMINDERs:Chapter 2 test retake is Monday 10/15. You can take the retest either before school or after school, but you must complete all of the Chapter 2 homework (75% completion on each assignment) to be eligible for a retake!
